RTR = Heng Long v5.3
First impressions-
It looks impressive but it's sitting down at the rear. The suspension at the rear is resting on the stops and won't compress any more so I'm going to have to take it apart to see what I can do.
Inside is a mass of wires that's going to need tiding up. It's got brass gears, so that's good though but I'll have to add a splash cover.
Took it for a test run and it kept cutting out so I took it apart and found this. Whatever had caused the corrosion had seeped some way down the wires but (luckily) hasn't made it to the electronics / battery. The soldering looks like something out of engineers nightmare.
Running around the wheels kept binding, seems like they are catching on the nut detail on the bogies so I'm going to have to add spacers or shave the nuts off.
Gun movement is very fast and jerky and it makes the turret rotation noise when moving side to side.
Overall it's a nice model to add to the collection but RTR?
Yes it does run straight out of the box but there are a number of problems that I think need sorting out and then it'll be the tank it should have been.
It reminds me of the old Heng Long Tiger tanks. You know it'll have problems that'll need fixing but once that's done it'll be a good runner. So if you get one then be prepared to take it apart.
